Late @ Tate Britain: Platinum Paradise (Queer Nightlife Panel + DJ Set)

  • Tate Britain Millbank London, England, SW1P United Kingdom (map)

Explore how people relate to their queerness in 2017 at a time where mainstream media lacks intersectional representation and sexuality and gender is considered fluid. Celebrate how LGBTQ communities have manifested themselves from the underground to the forefront of popular culture.

Explore QTIPOC nightlife in the Duveens with BBZ, centred on positive feminine energy and eradicating misogyny for queer women and genderqueer people of colour. Catch DJ sets from low-key Londoner and PDA resident Larry B and artist, cultural critic and DJ madison moore.

A new video work and talk by Jay Bernard addresses three vital questions: how do we deal with absences in history? How do we know something is missing if we didn’t know it was there? How do we address erasure, forgetting and deliberate exclusion, particularly around black queer lives?

Watch UK Gay Bar Directory, a moving image archive of one hundred and seventy gay bars filmed in 13 cities across the UK by artists Hannah Quinlan and Rosie Hastings. The screening will be accompanied by performance from Chloe AD Filani.

madison moore and panellists Victoria Sin, Nontokozo F Sihwa and Jay Jay Revlon address how music, dance floors, and embodied creativity offer sites of resistance, resilience and recognition, all at 128 beats per minute.
